Lizzie Harper, Hay based botanical illustrator, will be our artist in residence for the final day of the festival…

Botanical illustrator Lizzie Harper has provided work for a myriad of publications including David Attenborough’s A Life on Our PlanetThe Treeline by Ben Rawlence, The Bumper Book of Nature by Stephen Moss and Adele Nozedar’s popular Hedgerow and Foraging books. She is spending the afternoon sketching in the shop and chatting about her work and will have greetings cards and a

Anyone who doesn’t know Lizzie's work is in for a treat. To watch her create her masterpieces in real time is something to be believed, her bringing nature to life in a few strokes of her brush is a joyful process.

This is an unticketed event as we are running an author signing/reading at 4 o’clock daily during Hay Festival (coffee and cake will be available).

At North Books, 4 Castle Street, Hay-on-Wye on Sunday 4 June, all day from 10.30 until close.

THE ARTIST

Lizzie Harper is a free-lance natural history and botanical illustrator with a keen love of nature.

Her scientific training as a zoologist helps complement her illustrations. She works in watercolour, pencil, and pen.  With over 25 years experience as a free-lance illustrator, she has a broad range of clients.

Publishers, environmental charities, postage stamp designers, packaging firms, design companies, and private individuals have all commissioned her illustrations.
